War in the Congo still ravages Bukavu and Uvira, while missionaries keep the faith alive.

Even after an international meeting in Washington seeking peace agreements, the Congolese cities of Bukavu and Uvira continue to face the horrors of war in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Located in the eastern region of the country, both are part of the North and South Kivu provinces, the epicenter of an armed conflict that continues to cause death, fear, and mass displacement of the population.
Bukavu, with about 1 million inhabitants, and Uvira, on the border with Burundi, were again hit by explosions and gunfire this weekend. The violence caused thousands of civilians to flee to safer areas, such as Bukavu itself and the city of Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi.
The situation is especially worrying for young people, who live under the constant threat of being forcibly recruited by rebel groups. The climate of tension directly affects families, who face the daily fear of losing their children to war.
The 24 Hours Before the Lord Ministry has already been actively working in both cities, where many Gideons were raised up amidst the chaos. Missionaries like the coordinator, Pastor Alphonse Nidjibu, and his family, who reside in Bukavu, remain steadfast in their purpose of bringing hope to the region, even in the face of so many challenges.
Let us remain in prayer for the Congolese people, especially for the Gideons of the Kivu Province. Contribute to the missionary work of the Gideons 24h through PIX: 09.224.631/0001-69.
Pray. Participate. Be a supporter of Missions!
