On May 2nd, churches in Rio Grande do Sul held the 2nd Southern Cone Congress in the city of Santana do Livramento. The central theme of the meeting was "Bringing the Church into Alignment for a Great Harvest (Revival)," bringing together leaders and participants with the purpose of seeking a new spiritual era for the Church.
The congress featured a presentation by Tânia Rezende, leader of the Gideões Mirins, Teens, and Sementinhas groups from the Gideões 24h Diante do Senhor ministry.
A call to revival
With a theme focused on revival, the congress highlighted the desire to see the Church aligned for a great spiritual harvest, pointing to a movement that begins in southern Brazil and expands throughout the nation.
The central biblical basis for the meeting was the text from the Book of Joel 2:28-31, which speaks of the outpouring of the Spirit on all flesh, reinforcing the expectation of a time of spiritual renewal and manifestation of God's power.
Three pillars of the congress
The sermons revolved around three main themes:
Revival as a starting point, with the vision of a movement that originates in Rio Grande do Sul and spreads throughout Brazil;
Worship as a weapon of war, highlighting the role of worship in spiritual warfare and in establishing the Kingdom of God;
Spiritual advocacy for the nations, with an emphasis on intercession and crying out for the spiritual redemption of the peoples.
The central message pointed to a "prophetic river" rising in the south of the country, bringing alignment and spiritual awakening to other regions.
International presence
The congress was also marked by the participation of representatives from five nations: Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, and Chile.
The international presence reinforced the missionary character of the event and the unity among nations around the purpose of seeking God and experiencing a time of revival.
A movement that transcends borders.
The 2nd Southern Cone Congress highlighted a clear call: to align the Church to experience a great spiritual harvest through prayer, worship, and the action of the Holy Spirit.
Based on the vision presented, the meeting pointed to a time when the revival that began in the south of the country could reach all of Brazil, impacting other nations as well.
