MAMA SAFI MALIMBUKO - An Exemplary Leader

On January 6, 2026, we received the news of the passing of our beloved leader of the Gideons Juniors of Congo (DRC), Mama Safi Malimbuko. The news reached us late, as Mama Safi passed away on December 7, 2025, and was buried on the 10th, three days later.

We met Mama Safi, wife of the late Pastor Kitcha Malimbuko, our first coordinator of the Gideons 24h in the African Continent, in Durban, South Africa, where our daughter Susie and her family (Pastor Kaiser and daughters: Hadassa, Rahissa and Sanny) lived for about 4 years.

Upon returning to Congo after medical treatment in South Africa, Pastor Kitcha and Safi brought the vision of the Prayer Towers and the Gideon's Children (Watoto Wa Gideoni - in Swahili) to their country in 2011.

When we visited the country (Pra Angela, Pra Susie and Pra Tania), passing through Kalemie, Lumumbashi, Bukavu and Uvira, we found 8 prayer towers operating continuously, in different denominations (with the Assembly of God, CADAF, being the strongest).

Mama Safi embraced the vision with dedication and continued working tirelessly even after the passing of her husband, Pastor Kitcha Malimbuko.

She kept the Gideões Mirins (Junior Gideonites) united and produced with them the recording of 3 albums with original songs, all done with great artistry, good taste and dedication.

There were solemn moments with the presence of political authorities at the launches of these music albums.

Many lives have been reached through Mama Safi's work. Many churches in Kinshasa, Lumumbashi, Kalemie, and other important cities have been reached through Mama Safi's work with Congolese women and children's and youth leaders.

We praise the Lord for the precious life of Mama Safi and pray that He will raise up other brave and loyal women of God with the same disposition and fervor.

We love Mama Safi and her precious family.

We thank the Lord for the wonderful work done in these 15 years of perseverance, and may this torch that was lit in Congo (DRC) reach all of Africa, preparing the African church, in unity with the Lord's church on other continents, for the return of Jesus.

Thank you so much, dear Mama Safi! May the Lord reward you for your work done for Him and for the glory of His Kingdom on Earth.
